Question 13.12:
What About Yeminite Jews?

Answer:

Yemenite Jewery didn't have the same level of communiation or mixing with the other communities. Until the 19th and early 20th century, they had a pretty uniform, Rambam-based custom. Trade with Syria brought with it the Kabbalistic ideas from Sefad, causing a battle much like the one seen in Ashkenaz when Chassidus started. When they came to Israel they were in two basic camps (with different flavors based on city of origin): Baladi (national) custom and Shaami (Syrian; i.e. the kabbalistically influenced import from Sepharad, Safed, and Syria).
